Lockdown King and Queen - Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer - Favorites for Biden Replacement
Fascism - authoritarian government/corporate control - is already alive and well in America, and it's not Trump's fault.
Sorry, this train wreck is hard to take my eyes off of.
The People Who Can’t Wake Up are now mad at the New York Times for publishing an editorial saying Biden needs to drop out of the race.
I found pretty much no comments on the editorial demanding that the DNC back the first black woman VP. As I mentioned yesterday, there is a curious lack of self-awareness about the blatant racism against Kamala Harris by the DEI crowd.
Harris knows she’s being pass over and she’s pissed, rightly so:
@DougKass What I am hearing regarding Joe Biden. Ron Klain and Barack Obama are having a sit down with the President today. Jill Biden is insistent that Joe runs. Kamala is furious that she is not being considered as a replacement (Whitmer and Newsom are). Interestingly my neighbor in East Hampton is hosting the Bidens tomorrow. It will be an important tell if the fundraiser is cancelled.
I’ve speculated that Harris is too difficult to control, and since she’s being passed over, this makes me see her as probably the best of the worst options we have on the Democratic side. Because who are the successors being promoted by the Democrats right now?
Gavin Newsom (“Gruesome Newsom”) and Gretchen Whitmer (“Wretched Gretchen”) THE King and Queen of covid pandemic lockdowns and tyranny.
I’m not sure who is worse on this front, Newsom, whose state had the Coast Guard chasing after lone surfers violating beach bans, or Whitmer, who sent threatening letters to doctors banning from trying drugs like hydroxychloroquine on covid patients.
Whitmer later backpeddled after the backlash.
If either or both of these politicians end up on the ballot in November, we are likely to see an assault on health freedom far worse than what even Biden inflicted on us.
Many die-hard Democrats, the ones freaking out about Trump bringing in “fascism” - and who clearly don’t even know what the word means - are the ones in favor of lockdowns, mask mandates, and vaccine mandates. They are the ones who are in favor of censoring social media for so-called “misinformation” about vaccines.
They don’t realize that what they want IS the fascism they claim to be against - an unholy authoritarian alliance of big government and big corporations - i.e., big pharma - in control of what we read, what we say, and what we put into our bodies.
They justify their authoritarian impulses by saying they are “saving lives.”
This might be vaguely noble if lives had really been saved, but they have not.
BUT…a lot of machinations have to be engendered to get a Newsom/Whitmer ticket to work. First off, the so-called rules make it perhaps impossible to replace Biden without a 25th Amendment session.
Second, a lot of Biden supporters are still stuck in denial and wrongly think keeping Biden on the ticket is the best way to defeat Trump…who they strangely fear as bringing in “authoritarianism” while their own side locks up J6 protestors for years without a fair trial.
Biden, or his double, showed up at a campaign event where he read off a teleprompter, and the teleprompter performance was “good enough” for those still in denial of Biden’s clear ill health. This is being brought up as reason to claim that Biden isn’t as far gone as we saw him on Thursday night.
Others are using bizarre excuses for the worst debate performance in history, such as suggesting that, for example, Trump is so dizzying in his lies (as if Biden never lies), that who could possibly keep up with that?
We’re talking about the man with his finger on the button, folks.
The weirdest excuse I saw in the New York Times comment section was the following:
Long covfefe
WashingtonStephen Hawking probably wasn't a very good debater either.
I copied some of the most gobsmacking comments from the New York Times editorial, including a few rays of sense in a lot of nonsense. Here they are:

Los AngelesDemocrats, Independents, Undecideds, Double Haters, and New York Times, do not fall for it. Asking for Biden to drop out is exactly what Trump and his circle is hoping for. This is a trap. The way to avoid it is to rally like never before around President Biden.
Whaaat? The best gift to Trump is Biden. Full stop.

Reno NVI think that the NY Times has jumped the gun on whether or not President Biden should drop out of the race.
First: Everyone can have a bad day, partidculary in a debate situation and particularly when the opponent is a lying megalomaniac like Trump. Yes, Biden appeared sometimes like a deer in the headlights, but his team prepared him with loads of facts and figures to debate his opponent. However, his opponent lies incessantly and without citing any real facts. How does Biden react? Bewildered comes to mind and that was what we saw on this particular occasion.
Second: Today we saw the "real" Joe Biden in Raleigh NC giving a speech to, admittadly, the Democratic faithful. Nonetheless, he admitted that he is older and slower and maybe he did not perform up to standards last night. But he has been clued in to the shameless narcissism of Trump and he will now call him out on every forthcoming occasion. Good for the Joe we know!
I did a quick search and could find no professional profile for a Dr. Lawrence Olsen in Reno, NV. Is this a paid commenter? From which side, I wonder?

Cranford, NJTrump is going to win by a landslide.
He will get more Hispanic support than Bush in 2000 and 2004.
This is possible. I think the only people who truly like Biden are old white liberals.

NYCThe first thing my husband said to me this morning was “Why not Gretchen Whitmer?” A couple hours later I’m in line at the MoMA and the man in front of me, a total stranger, says to me “Why can’t we vote for Gretchen Whitmer?” I’m not kidding. So, reading the room, even if that room is costal elite deep blue NYC, I’d say Whitmer has a better shot than the previous guy and the current guy.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. She was standing in line at the Museum of Modern Art and some random guy says, “Why can’t we vote for Gretchen Whitmer?” OK, sure, Jan.

RaleighI am gobsmacked. I have always thought that the Editorial Board of the New York Times must be an intellectual powerhouse, And yet, you didn't take your critical analysis beyond the first step. If Biden were to "step aside," by what process would a successor be chosen? Who do you think would unite the party and improve chances for victory?
There is no way that there would NOT be a giant, damaging fight to choose a successor that would deepen the divide between the progressive and more conservative wings of the Democratic party. I understand that the polls say that Trump has the advantage even though he will never win the popular vote. However, there is no way that a scrum to replace him would improve the chances of a Democratic win.
If Biden becomes incapacitated during his Presidency, we have that covered. Do you remember that there is a Vice President? I don't think Biden is staying in for egotistical reasons. I think he understands the political process a LOT better than you do.
When I read that you think that Biden should step down to protect the future of American Democracy, Shakespeare's phrase, "methinks the Lady doth protest too much" popped into my heard. If the future of democracy were truly your main concern, I think you would have used a bit more caution and forethought. I am disgusted. I am going to cancel my subscription as my teeny tiny protest against your reckless endangerment of our country.
Well, at least Alison remembers that Kamala Harris exists.
Allison
New York, NYIt's also time to consider what a narcissist Biden is, for staying in. He's willing to risk nuclear war and the collapse of our nation just so he can hang on to the feeling of power just a little longer.
Another Allison, this one with a lot more sense.

PittsburghThis is a very dangerous and unhelpful opinion article. The NYT is reacting just the same as it did with Hillary Clinton and her emails etc in 2016. In your efforts to appear to be nonpartisan, you just give support for those who are trying to destroy our democracy and country. There is very little chance that at this point we can change who will be nominated. Why don’t you aggressively cover the fact that Trump and his supporters are trying to destroy our country. I’m ashamed that such a great newspaper is failing in its service to our country.
I mean, just…wow. The editorial actually spent most of its ink slamming Trump and this guy still thinks this is “nonpartisan.”
Steve Dunnibg
TexasHow can you write an editorial like this without saying who should take Biden's place. Identifying the problem without proposing a solution is a total cop-out and not helpful. Step up up and propose a solution or keep quiet!
I’d like to note here that Steve also did not offer up his own suggestion. So what about it, Steve, who do you suggest?

CaliforniaLet me get this straight. Trump is so bad that Biden has to get out of the race?! I’m confused.
The New York Times Editorial Board has figured out that Biden can’t win against Trump. (At least fairly.) Duh.

oregonBiden isn't stepping down, and all of the liberal media pundits will have to walk back the last 24 hours and go back to sticking to the script. Our democracy is a sham, and our free press is a state press, where mainstream journalist are just stenographers of government narratives.
The entire system has to go. Stop voting for the Democratic party and stop believing there the good side in the good cop/bad cop act they do with the Republicans, and stop believing what their media tells you unflinchingly.
The people who brought us to this point, are the same ones who wrote this editorial and told you that voting for Biden was "saving democracy", when the Democrats obviously don't even believe this enough to run a stronger candidate.
Wait, someone who sees through all this on a New York Times comment section? Wow!
Geoff
NYOne mistake and he's out? Is this a considered opinion or the reaction of your editorial board to his having turned down an interview request? Did any of you see his rally today? There was quite a difference. To be honest, I had the same negative reaction during his first response, but I think he can run successfully. If he cannot finish the term, Harris can take over.
At least Geoff also remembers Kamala Harris exists, but did he watch the same debate the rest of us did? I am still shocked that anyone who watched the debate would think Biden is fit for office, I don’t care if Biden read a teleprompter the following day. The man is going downhill, fast. He may not even be able to speak in public at all in a month or so.

MauiI believe that President Biden should step aside and have someone like Gretchen witmer from Michigan to replace him. I would not be a supporter of Kamala Harris either She is not ready to be president.
Why all this love for Gretchen Whitmer? Ugh. More anti-Kamala racism from the woke.

Los Angeles, CAA number of doctors on Twitter felt Biden presented the symptoms of early Parkinsons.. shuffling walk , face immobile.. Where is the conspiracy now?
The citizens of the US are owed a full accounting of Biden's health and prospects.
Gretchen Whitmer for President.
G gets that Biden is sick but is yet another Democrat calling for the Lockdown Queen. We are in trouble.

Hingham, Mass. The Times panics. Yes, it is more than one bad night -- but it WAS a bad night. How can you be so sure that it was not just fatigue late in the day of a killing job, over-preparation, and a bad cold? I notice that you have offered no evidence of the incompetence of Biden from anything he has done as president: any appointment, any policy, any executive action. Does none of that matter? Is all to be decided on the basis of how he sounded and looked in a single competitive combat? Changing nominees now would be a nightmare. Lyndon Johnson announced that he would not run again for a second full term in March of 1968. Here we are on the verge of July. To invent some open renominating process now, without any organized candidates and no other campaign in action, would be a chaotic nightmare. Do you really think the Democrats would easily and painlessly come together around a candidate? Some Young Lochinvar is going to come out of the West and rescue the Democratic damsel in distress? No, there would be a bloodbath between the left and the center. (Lots of fun for the press, to be sure, and the Trumpites.) And consider fund-raising: hundreds of millions of dollars have been donated to the Biden campaign by people who want him to be the next president. What is the Party going to do? Give all that money back? Or say, "Thanks, folks, but now we're going to give all that money to Kamela Harris"? You guys are on some foolish fantasy cloud.
Racist.

FloridaWhat I found most interesting today was not the postmortems on the debate, but the news coverage of Biden at a North Carolina appearance. He appeared coherent and spoke intelligently. Comparing those news clips to his performance last night, my first thought was he truly is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. If you have or had a parent, partner or loved one with this disease, you will recognize the "sundowning" effect of this disease. It is time for him to withdraw.
Alzheimer’s sundowning, also known as “late-day confusion,” refers to a state of confusion or agitation that occurs in some individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia towards the end of the day or in the evening. This behavior can include restlessness, aggression, anxiety, irritability, and disorientation.

NYCFor better or worse, the NYT has now all but forced the Democrats to pick a new candidate in putting an editorial like this at the top of its front page.
But if it's going to happen, it has to happen soon. We cannot select a new candidate on Nov 1 for a Nov 5 election.
I think most of the names we are hearing -- Gavin Newsom, Whitmer, Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, Oprah?) -- are all people who can forcefully put Trump in his place. Americans (swing voters) are not going to elect someone who stands there on stage and allows him/herself to be a punching bag.
Someone with a lick of sense…but Oprah? That would be interesting.
Robert G.
San FranciscoThere is no clear replacement for Biden. None, and the search would tear the Democratic party apart. We’d get an ugly compromise candidate. Taking the VP spot from Harris, if done, would cost Biden's successor the Black vote.
More important, Biden is clearly the most competent person to lead this country for the next 4 years. (His actuarial life expectancy is 88 – and his health is apparently good.) His ability, wisdom and effectiveness are matched0, as is clear from the record.
His incapacities have nothing to do with what the brain does tp examine complex topics and alternatives to policies and actions.
But oh! He was tired last night. There were those gaffs, the lack of energy in his speech. And just see how he walks.
How successful do you expect to be advising him to resign? Do you realize that your demand undermines him in the eyes of the timorous. The state of Panic is not a place to find or create good advice.
Instead of reacting to style, Start educating the public. Acknowledge his frailties but compare the two men--the substance of the debate not the style. Calm yourself. Compare, topic by topic, policies, intentions and and behaviors Biden vs Trump.
Teach, Teach, Teach.
That's the duty you owe your readership and humankind.
Henny-Pennies, get your head out from under your wings. The sky will fall only if you and other respected media insist on telling the world how smart you are, how risky a Biden choice would be.
I don’t even know where to begin with this guy, if he thinks Biden actually contains an ounce of wisdom in him. (For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t call Trump “wise” either). But let’s play:
Compare, topic by topic, policies, intentions and and behaviors Biden vs Trump.
I’m very unhappy with Trump not firing Fauci and pushing Operation Warp Speed on us. I don’t have faith he’ll actually do anything about a “Deep State.” But what Biden did is the following:
Mandate covid vaccines for federal workers
Lock up political protestors by labeling them as seditionists
Pressure social media companies to censor Americans who disagreed with official government narratives on covid
On those three points alone, I cannot vote for Biden. I wish we had better alternatives, but a vote for mainstream Democrats right now is the vote for tyranny and a vote against democracy. Mainstream Republicans aren’t much better, by the way. But the WEF/WHO cabal seems to be running their agenda via the left side of the aisle - at least, for the moment.
We can try to shift the narrative - health freedom should not be partisan - but it’s a long uphill battle by those who are hypnotized by the mainstream media.
