Isn't public sex something that must have been occurring in some societies?

Not really what you described but it is a thought...

If sex were more accepted, there would be no shame...

I think they tried to make it bad to be a loving person, but then commodified

Sex, and I am always embarrassed even by the softest porn, why should I be? Why should I feel strange for what others do with mutual consent?

Our culture has a bad relationship with Love and spirit, how can we hope to become more reasonable?

I find it boring and embarrassing if I see others having sex, but....why should I care at all?

I was practicing Ashtanga Yoga a few years ago when it became apparent that Pattabhi Jois (the founder and leader of Ashtanga Yoga, known as Guruji, who died in 2009) had sexually abused some female practitioners. Here is a link to a good review of the whole picture.

I had watched some demonstration videos and Jois had done some cringe worthy body rubbing in the open studio.

However, I would like to say that as with MeToo I want to make sure that we look for all the facts and that false claims are not made

A couple years ago my doctor (who I like a lot) prescribed a statin for me for cholesterol. I did take it for a while and then stopped. I told her I stopped but with every blood test I had she would recommend again that I take it. We talked a bit about her calculations about why she thought I needed it. We looked at relative and absolute percentages and I didn't think the absolute numbers warranted the drug. Anyways I said I would research it and and she said she would give me some information as well. She sent a link to methods of treatment but nothing on the actual reasons for taking the statin. I wrote an 11 page paper citing many sources about the problems with defining troubles with so-called high cholesterol, conflicting reports in different countries, unusable test results, and many reports of little problems with cholesterol with the way it is defined in regular medicine. She had time to read it and on the next visit to her all she said was, "Don't you trust me?" No discussion about anything I had found. I guess I expected better. No, I don't trust her.

Medicine has been a cult far longer than it's been "modern"!

thank you... there has been much talk about mass formation psychology/hypnosis lately... and a lot of people in the world have been traumatized and abused. if not healed, it goes on. two other points occurred to me, l. Sad Baba was an Indian guru who did 'good works" and also was found to have been a sexual abuser. 2. am trying to think of who the writer was who wrote about her disillusionment with her zen master... finding out weird things about the person... I can also speak from my own experience that I had an amazing loving and kind spiritual teacher, mentor and coach for 40+ years. she was not a saint. and at times it was really challenging to deal with her and her husband. they have both died and mutual friends and I have been discussing things we never talked about before. my teacher apologized and asked for my forgiveness on several occasions when she realized what she did or said was wrong. unfortunately, not many leaders, spiritual or health and wellness teachers and doctors, admit their mistakes and wrongdoings and apologize... also forgive and CHANGE... that makes a huge difference.
