Note from Stephanie: Guest contributor Raffaella Di Nicola has graciously shared this qigong video for paying subscribers. We’ve also included the first half of the class for everyone.
Yi Jin Jing is an ancient set of exercises from China designed to support physical health through consistent practice. Yi Jin Jing means “Muscle/Tendon Change Classic” so you’ll find some fairly vigorous exercise here (for qigong). Wear loose clothing. For the feet, either use bare feet, flat athletic shoes, or “grippy” socks (no normal socks, which can be dangerous for exercise!).
All of these exercises can be modified to make them more gentle. For example, you can shorten your stance (reduce the distance between the legs for the pose that looks like a yoga warrior posture). You also don’t have to squat down as far or bow as deeply as Raffaella does here.
By taking this class you agree to the medical disclaimer.
