I just finished up some homework for one of my grad courses. I’m changing some of the details, but the scenario went something like this: We have a course for fighter jet pilots, but it’s not accessible. We need to fix the course so that blind people, people with cognitive disabilities, and people with problems with motor control can take the course.
How is a blind person going to fly a plane? By using the Force?
I have a disability. It impacts my balance. Really, I am OK being excluded from certain jobs. No, I do not want to work as a fighter jet pilot. I also don’t want to be an astronaut, or a tightrope walker.
My problem is that I see this stuff and I get angry. I get angry because I feel like I’m surrounded by nonsensical people, and that makes me feel less safe in the world.
I need to get over it. The world is not safe, and the world is filled with ignorant, violent, and often scary people.
Why get angry at this and not the really big problems in the world? It’s the insidiousness of it all. It’s the twisting of something good into gaslighting.
I’m all for accessibility. But I have reasonable limits. My cataracts make it hard to see fine print. Yes, I’d like larger print. No, I don’t think I should be working as an airline pilot right now.
It’s OK to acknowledge and accept our limitations. People need to stop fighting with reality so much.
The good news is that (many) young people will see the insanity of this and reject it all. Remember when you were seventeen ,and thought you knew it all? “Old people” - such as their parents’ entire generation - know nothing, and “we young people” know how to fix it. Remember that mindset? So the college kids of today will see the complete nuttiness of Wokism and the training of blind pilots and they will “discover” common sense, common business sense, and common-sense human interaction. No one ever thought of this solution before! Old people in their thirties are so stupid.
Let’s hope, anyway. Civilization depends upon it!
It doesn't make any sense, because it's not intended to make sense.
It is all designed to cause mental imbalance / cognitive dissonance / any other fancy words to describe trying to give us a breakdown.
And the lefties embrace it wholeheartedly and call us NAZI's for daring to disagree.
In the UK, you can be jailed for words online and even silent thoughts, but apparently not for beating up the police, or mass rape.
