Chronic Cough Contagion?

What's up with the coughs that won't quit?

I now know multiple seniors with chronic coughs that won’t go away. Is this some sort of new normal for older people? What’s going on? In many cases, the doctors cannot find a reason for the cough. Some of the seniors write it off as “allergies,” but a deep, wheezing cough that sounds like bronchitis doesn’t sound like “just allergies” to me.
